Quick answer: Yes, November is a good month for the Kedarkantha trek. Expect clear skies, days of about 5°C to 18°C and nights of -8°C to -2°C at camp, colder late in the month. Snow on the summit trail is not guaranteed; a first dusting is possible. Trekkaro runs 9 batches in November 2026 at ₹9,000 + 5% GST (₹9,450).
November sits between Kedarkantha's two seasons. The meadows have turned gold, the air is at its clearest, and the trail is quieter than in December. What you trade away is certainty of snow. This guide covers what November is really like on the 3,810 m (12,500 ft) summit trek above Sankri, which November dates are open, how early and late November differ, and what it costs.
What is the weather on Kedarkantha in November?
Trekkaro's Kedarkantha page gives one range for autumn (September to November): about 5°C to 18°C during the day and -8°C to -2°C at night on the higher camps. November sits at the colder end of that range, and the last week of the month starts to feel like early winter.
Rain is rare in November, so most days are dry and the views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and the Black Peak range are at their sharpest. The catch is the cold before sunrise. On summit day you leave the camp around 2:00 AM, which is the coldest part of the night, and the wind on the final ridge makes it feel colder than the thermometer says.
In the week before you leave, check the Uttarkashi district forecast from the India Meteorological Department's Dehradun centre, which publishes district-level forecasts for Uttarakhand.
Will there be snow on Kedarkantha in November?
Maybe, and nobody can promise it. The first snow of the season often reaches the higher peaks around October and November, and early snowfall can leave patches of snow on the upper trail and the summit ridge. In some years the trail is mostly dry until December. In mid-November 2023, for example, the Kedarkantha and Har Ki Dun area received only a light dusting, and a deep snow cover built up later in the winter.
So pick November for clear views, crisp weather and frosty mornings. If walking through deep snow is the main reason you want to do Kedarkantha, choose a batch from late December to February instead.

What should you pack for Kedarkantha in November?
Pack for winter nights even if the days feel like autumn. The full list is in our winter trek packing list; the November-specific points are below.
- Three warm layers: thermal inner, fleece or woollen mid-layer, and a padded jacket. Free Trekking Gear gives you a jacket rated to -10°C, which you wear over your own fleece on summit night.
- Warm accessories: woollen cap, a buff or neck warmer, fleece gloves plus a waterproof outer pair, and two pairs of woollen socks for camp.
- Sun protection: UV-protection sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm. The November sun is strong at 3,800 m even when the air is cold.
- Headlamp with spare batteries: the summit push starts in the dark, and batteries drain faster in the cold.
- Microspikes and gaiters: part of Free Trekking Gear, along with Decathlon trekking shoes and poles. Frozen patches on the summit ridge are slippery even when there is little snow.
Trek leader Anirudh's tip: On summit night in November, start a little colder than feels comfortable and open your jacket on the climb rather than sweating into your layers. Wet layers freeze on the ridge. Keep your water bottle inside your jacket so it does not freeze, and eat something small at every rest stop.
Is November a good month for first-timers?
For many beginners, yes. Kedarkantha is graded Easy to Moderate, the minimum age is 8, and November's dry trail is easier underfoot than deep snow. Summit day is the hard part. You should be able to walk briskly for 4 to 5 hours. Our Kedarkantha difficulty and fitness guide has a training plan.
Daylight is short in November, so be punctual in the mornings; the team plans each day to reach camp well before dark.
