What to expect on easy treks
Easy treks have short daily walks (4–6 hours), gentle gradients and moderate altitudes. If you can walk 5 km in about 40 minutes and climb a few floors of stairs comfortably, you are ready. Start light jogging or brisk walking 3–4 weeks before the trek.
On this page the easy treks are mostly two-day treks; Chirbatiya takes three days and Khaliya Top five. The comparison table above shows the days, highest point, season months and next open batch of each one.
Nag Tibba and Benog Tibba are the two easy weekend treks from Dehradun. Nag Tibba covers 16 km and reaches 3,022 m. Benog Tibba covers 8 km and reaches 2,216 m. Both run from September to June.
Easy does not mean effortless. Nag Tibba climbs above 3,000 m, where the air is thinner and the climb feels slower. Winter nights are cold: -7 to -2°C on Nag Tibba and -3 to 4°C on Benog Tibba. Walk at your own pace, drink water through the day and tell the trek leader if you feel unwell. There are daily health checks on the trail.
Easy treks suit children and older trekkers who walk well. The minimum age is 6 on Benog Tibba and 9 on Nag Tibba. Trekkers under 18 join with a parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit. Above 60, bring a doctor's fitness certificate; an ECG or TMT is recommended.
Free Trekking Gear comes with Nag Tibba and Benog Tibba: Decathlon trekking shoes, a -10°C jacket, trekking poles and gaiters, with microspikes on snow. Pack warm layers, a rain jacket, a headlamp, a water bottle and a photo ID.
The easy treks start from Dehradun. Transport is not included in the trek fee: we help the group book shared cabs, paid directly to the driver and split among trekkers. Each batch takes up to 20 trekkers, and booking closes at 5 PM on the day before the batch starts.
After an easy trek, the next step is an Easy to Moderate trek such as Kedarkantha, Brahmatal or Dayara Bugyal. Those have longer days and summits around 3,700–3,800 m.
