Quick answer: The Kedarkantha trek with Trekkaro costs ₹9,000 + 5% GST (₹9,450) per person, including stays, all meals on the trek, permits, the trek leader and Free Trekking Gear. Add your travel to Dehradun and the shared taxi to Sankri, and most trekkers spend about ₹15,000–18,000 in total from Delhi. With EMI, the trek fee starts at about ₹463/month.

"How much will Kedarkantha really cost me?" is one of the first questions we get, and the honest answer is: more than the trek fee alone, but less than most people expect. Here is every rupee, line by line, so there are no surprises.

1. The trek fee: ₹9,450

Trekkaro's Kedarkantha fee is ₹9,000 + 5% GST = ₹9,450 per person for the 5-day trek, Dehradun to Dehradun (the road transfer is separate, see below). It covers:

  • 1 night in a guesthouse at Sankri and 3 nights in tents on the trail
  • All meals on the trek: breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner
  • Govind Pashu Vihar National Park permits and forest fees
  • A certified trek leader, guide, cooks, camp helpers and mule or porter support
  • Sleeping bags, mattresses and tents at every campsite
  • Twice-daily SpO2 and pulse checks, a portable oxygen cylinder and a stretcher
  • Free Trekking Gear: Decathlon trekking shoes, a -10°C jacket, poles, gaiters and microspikes

2. Dehradun to Sankri and back: about ₹2,200–2,600

The drive from Dehradun to Sankri (about 200 km, 7–8 hours) is not part of the trek fee. Trekkaro arranges shared taxis at about ₹6,500 per vehicle one way, split between the 5–6 trekkers in it. That works out to roughly ₹1,100–1,300 per person each way, or about ₹2,200–2,600 for the round trip.

3. Getting to Dehradun

This depends on where you start and how you travel. Typical one-way fares from Delhi:

ModeTimeTypical one-way cost
Overnight Volvo bus (ISBT Kashmere Gate)6–7 hoursAbout ₹700–1,500
Train (Shatabdi or overnight trains)5–6 hoursAbout ₹600–1,600
Flight to Jolly Grant airportAbout 1 hourOften ₹3,000–6,000+

Prices change with season and how early you book. Book Christmas, New Year and long-weekend travel early, because fares rise sharply.

4. Smaller costs to plan for

  • Travel insurance (mandatory): it must cover high-altitude trekking and evacuation. Short trip policies usually cost a few hundred rupees.
  • Gear deposit and washing: Free Trekking Gear has no rental fee. A ₹3,000 deposit is refunded after the trek, and there is a ₹200 washing charge.
  • Food while travelling to Dehradun and on the drive to Sankri: about ₹400–800.
  • A night in Dehradun, if you arrive the evening before: optional, about ₹800–2,000.
  • Personal clothing you don't already own (thermals, woollen socks, gloves): many trekkers spend nothing here; others spend ₹1,000–3,000.

5. Optional add-ons

Add-onCostWorth it if…
Backpack offloading (up to 9 kg)₹1,500 + GSTYou'd rather carry only a daypack, especially on summit day
Single tent occupancy₹2,000 + GSTYou want your own tent instead of sharing

Total cost from Delhi: Trekkaro vs other operators

Here is the full cost of a Kedarkantha trip from Delhi by overnight bus, the way most trekkers travel. The travel costs are the same whichever company you choose; the difference is the trek fee and the gear.

Other operators (typical)Trekkaro
Trek fee (incl. 5% GST)₹7,350–11,550+₹9,450
Trekking shoes, -10°C jacket, poles, gaiters, microspikes₹2,000–4,000 (rent)Free (₹200 washing)
Dehradun–Sankri taxi (return, shared)₹2,400₹2,400
Delhi–Dehradun bus (return)₹1,800₹1,800
Insurance and food on the way₹1,000₹1,000
Total from Delhi₹14,550–20,750₹14,850

Taking a train or flight, staying a night in Dehradun or adding backpack offloading (₹1,500 + GST) adds the same amount whichever company you trek with. Travel figures are typical estimates and will vary.

How Trekkaro's price compares

Kedarkantha is offered by many operators, so prices vary a lot. Across fixed-departure batches from Dehradun or Sankri, trek fees typically range from about ₹7,000 to ₹11,000+ per person before GST. The fee alone doesn't tell you the real cost, though. Compare what you actually pay once gear and the important extras are added:

Typical operatorTrekkaro
Trek fee₹7,000–11,000+ + GST₹9,000 + GST
Trekking shoes, -10°C jacket, poles, gaiters, microspikesBring your own, or rent for about ₹2,000–4,000Free (₹3,000 refundable deposit + ₹200 washing)
Group sizeOften 20–30 trekkers per batchMaximum 20, with 1 leader or guide per 8 trekkers
Health checksVaries; ask before bookingSpO2 and pulse twice a day, oxygen and stretcher on every batch
CancellationVaries; often partial refunds onlyFree rescheduling or a 100% TrekCash voucher up to 7 days before departure
EMINot always availableYes, from about ₹463/month

The real comparison: a cheaper trek fee plus ₹2,000–4,000 of gear rental often ends up costing the same as, or more than, Trekkaro, with bigger groups. Whichever company you choose, ask these five questions before you pay: What is the maximum group size? Is gear included? How often are health checks done? Is oxygen carried? What exactly do I get back if I cancel?

How to keep the cost down

  1. Use the free gear. Renting shoes, a jacket, poles and spikes elsewhere typically costs ₹2,000–4,000. See buy, rent or free gear.
  2. Take the overnight bus or train and arrive the morning you leave for Sankri only if you can sleep on the way; otherwise the extra night in Dehradun is worth it.
  3. Book early for holiday dates, when bus, train and flight prices rise.
  4. Travel with friends: filling a taxi with your own group keeps the shared transfer cost at the lower end.
  5. Pay in EMI if you prefer: on a 24-month plan the trek fee is about ₹463/month (bank interest applies; it depends on your card).

Is the Dehradun to Sankri transport included?

No. Trekkaro arranges shared taxis at about ₹6,500 per vehicle one way, split among the 5–6 trekkers in the vehicle, which is roughly ₹1,100–1,300 per person each way.

No hidden costs. Everything outside the trek fee is listed above: travel to Dehradun, the shared taxi to Sankri, insurance, the gear deposit and washing charge, and optional add-ons such as backpack offloading.
