Hampta Pass Trek Cost 2027: Full Breakdown

Quick answer: The Hampta Pass trek with Trekkaro costs ₹9,000 + 5% GST (₹9,450) per person for 5 days, Manali to Manali. Unlike most Hampta packages, that includes all the driving: Manali to the trailhead, Chhatru to Chandratal and back, and Chhatru to Manali. It also covers camping, meals, permits, the trek team and free trekking gear. With a Volvo from Delhi, the whole trip comes to about ₹13,650. EMI starts at about ₹463 a month.

Hampta Pass is the classic crossover trek: you climb out of Kullu's green, wet valleys and drop into the bare, high desert of Lahaul, with a visit to Chandratal lake to finish. Trekkaro runs it from mid-June to September 2027. Here is every cost, line by line, and how it compares with other operators.

1. The trek fee: ₹9,450, transport and free gear included

Your ₹9,000 + GST covers everything from Manali on Day 1 to Manali on Day 5:

  • Transport from Manali to Jobra, Chhatru to Chandratal and back, and Chhatru to Manali through the Atal Tunnel
  • All meals from Day 1 lunch to Day 5 breakfast
  • Tents (triple sharing), sleeping bags and mattresses
  • A certified trek leader and guide, kitchen staff, helpers and mule or horse support
  • Forest permits and Chandratal entry fees
  • A first-aid kit, and a completion certificate when you cross the pass
  • Free Trekking Gear: Decathlon trekking shoes, a jacket, trekking poles, gaiters and microspikes

Not included: your travel to Manali, a Manali hotel before or after, travel insurance and personal expenses.

2. Getting to Manali

From DelhiTimeTypical one-way cost
Overnight Volvo from ISBT Kashmere Gate13–15 hours₹1,200–2,500
Train to Chandigarh, then bus to Manali4 + 8–9 hours₹1,000–2,500
Flight to Bhuntar (Kullu), then taxiAbout 1.5 + 1.5–2 hours₹5,000–12,000+

Reporting is at 10:00 AM at Manali Bus Stand on Day 1, so an overnight Volvo that arrives by 9:00 AM works well. Bhuntar has only a few flights and weather often disrupts them, so most trekkers take the bus.

Total cost from Delhi: Trekkaro vs other operators

Cost per personTrekkaroOther operators (typical)
Trek fee (incl. 5% GST)₹9,450₹6,500–13,493
Transfers (Manali–Jobra, Chandratal, Chhatru–Manali)Included₹0–2,500
Trekking gear₹200 (washing charge)₹1,000–2,000 (rental in Manali)
Delhi–Manali Volvo, return₹3,000₹3,000
Insurance and food on the way₹1,000₹1,000
Total₹13,650₹11,500–21,993

Hampta Pass has the widest price range of any trek we checked in October 2026: budget groups from about ₹6,500, and larger operators around ₹12,850 + GST. A cheap headline price often leaves out the Chandratal drive, the trailhead transfer or a proper sleeping bag, so compare what is included, not just the number. Free gear comes with a ₹3,000 deposit that is refunded after the trek.

Before you pay any operator, ask: Are the Manali–Jobra and Chhatru–Manali drives included? Is Chandratal included? What sleeping bag rating do you use? What happens to my money if I cancel 10 days before?

Optional add-ons

Add-onCostWorth it if…
Backpack offloading (up to 9 kg)₹2,500 + GSTYou want only a day pack for the 7–10 hour pass crossing on Day 3
Single tent occupancy₹2,000 + GSTYou sleep lightly or want privacy on a solo trip

How to keep the cost down

  1. Take the free gear. No rental shop visit in Manali, and no deposit lost on damaged rental shoes. See buy, rent or free gear: what it really costs.
  2. Book the Volvo early. July and August weekend buses sell out and fares climb close to the date.
  3. Skip the extra Manali night. An overnight bus that arrives by 9:00 AM gets you to the 10:00 AM reporting time without a hotel.
  4. Spread the fee with EMI. About ₹463 a month over 24 months on eligible cards. Choose EMI at checkout on the Hampta Pass trek page.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Hampta Pass trek cost?

With Trekkaro it is ₹9,000 + 5% GST, which is ₹9,450 per person for 5 days, Manali to Manali. It includes transport from Manali and the Chandratal drive, camping, meals, permits, the trek team and free trekking gear. With a Volvo from Delhi, the full trip comes to about ₹13,650.

Is transport from Manali included?

Yes. Trekkaro includes the drive from Manali to Jobra, the Chhatru–Chandratal round trip and the return to Manali. Your travel to Manali is not included.

Is Trekkaro cheaper than other Hampta Pass operators?

Not always on the headline price. Budget groups start around ₹6,500, while larger operators charge about ₹12,850 + GST. Trekkaro sits in between but includes transfers, Chandratal and free gear, which budget packages often charge for separately.

Can I pay for Hampta Pass in EMI?

Yes, on eligible credit cards. On a 24-month plan the fee works out to about ₹463 a month; the exact amount depends on your bank's interest rate.

Are there any hidden costs?

No. Beyond the trek fee you pay only for travel to Manali, insurance, the ₹200 gear washing charge and any add-ons you choose. The ₹3,000 gear deposit is refunded after the trek.
