This guide is about the Aancha Top Trek — dates, price, day-by-day itinerary and booking are on the trek page.
Quick answer: The Aancha Top trek cost with Trekkaro is ₹9,870 per person including GST for the 6-day trek, covering stays, meals, permits and Free Trekking Gear. Add your share of the Dehradun cab, about ₹6,500 per vehicle each way (₹1,083 each when six share), and a ₹3,000 refundable gear deposit.
This page covers money only: what the fee buys, what you pay on top and how much cash to carry. Every figure comes from Trekkaro’s Aancha Top trek page, which shows live dates and prices.
What is the Aancha Top trek fee?
The fee is ₹9,400 per person plus 5% GST (₹9,870 with GST). EMI starts at ₹484 a month. The fee covers 6 days, Day 1 dinner at Ranachatti to Day 6 breakfast, with about 22 km on foot over four trekking days and three camps at Bamsingh, Dinnala Bugyal and Aancha camp.
The fee is charged per person. Batches take up to 20 trekkers, with one trek leader or guide for every 8, so the fee pays for a trek team as well as for food and tents.
What does the fee include?
The trek page groups the Inclusions under six headings, and together they cover almost everything between your arrival at Ranachatti and your departure from it.
- Free Trekking Gear, which means Decathlon trekking shoes, a Decathlon jacket rated to -10°C, trekking poles, gaiters and microspikes, with no rental fee.
- Two nights in a homestay or guesthouse in Ranachatti, on Day 1 and Day 5, on a triple or quad sharing basis.
- Three nights of camping, Day 2 to Day 4, in 3-person tents, with men and women in separate tents.
- All meals from Day 1 dinner to Day 6 breakfast, simple and freshly cooked pure vegetarian food, with tea, coffee, soup and snacks on the trail and at camp.
- All forest permits and camping charges for the trek, which Trekkaro arranges.
- Tents, sleeping bags rated to -20°C and mats, dining and toilet tents, a first-aid kit, pulse oximeter and blood-pressure checks.
- A trek leader trained in wilderness first aid and a local guide for all 6 days, plus a cook, helpers and support staff.
The fee also pays for the safety cover: SpO2 and pulse checks twice a day at every campsite, and one oxygen cylinder and one stretcher with every batch.
Which meals and stays does the fee cover on each day?
Meals on the two drives are the only food gap in the itinerary.
| Day | Route | Stay (in the fee) | Meals in the fee |
|---|---|---|---|

What is not included in the Aancha Top trek cost?
The Exclusions on the trek page name seven items, two of them optional.
- Transport from Dehradun to Ranachatti and back, which is a shared cab paid directly to the driver.
- Meals on the drive between Dehradun and Ranachatti, in both directions.
- Backpack offloading, which is optional.
- Single tent occupancy, which is optional.
- Your own backpack, clothing and other personal gear. Shoes, jacket, poles, gaiters and microspikes come with Free Trekking Gear, and the winter trek packing list covers the clothes and small items you still bring.
- Travel insurance, which is mandatory and must cover high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation.
- Personal expenses and tips, and anything else not listed under Inclusions.
How much is the shared cab from Dehradun to Ranachatti?
The cab costs about ₹6,500 one way per 5–6 seat vehicle. Trekkaro helps the group book shared cabs from Dehradun Railway Station to Ranachatti, and the fare is paid directly to the driver and split among the trekkers in that vehicle. The drive is about 160 km via Mussoorie, Naugaon and Barkot and takes 6–7 hours each way.
When six trekkers share a vehicle, each pays about ₹1,083 one way, or ₹2,167 for the round trip. With five in the car the round trip comes to about ₹2,600 each. The same pickup serves the other treks near Dehradun.
How do the gear deposit and washing charge work?
Free Trekking Gear has no rental fee. One ₹3,000 refundable deposit covers the shoes, jacket, poles, gaiters and microspikes together, plus a ₹200 washing charge. The deposit is refunded after the trek, so the only gear cost you keep is the ₹200.
The rent or buy trekking gear guide works out what this saves compared with buying the same kit for a single trek.
What do the optional add-ons cost?
Two add-ons are optional, each priced plus GST for the entire trek; the trek page shows the current price of each.
| Add-on | What you get | Conditions the page states |
|---|---|---|
| Backpack offloading | Your main backpack is carried for you for the entire trek | Maximum 9 kg; no suitcases, trolleys or duffel bags; tell Trekkaro at least 15 days before the trek, as last-minute requests may cost more |
| Single tent occupancy | A tent to yourself instead of a 3-person shared tent | Priced per tent for the entire trek |
If you offload, you still carry a 20–30 L day pack with water, snacks and a warm layer.
What does the whole Aancha Top trip cost from Dehradun?
This is what one trekker pays from the Dehradun pickup back to Dehradun.
| Cost per person | Six sharing the cab | Five sharing the cab |
|---|---|---|
| Trek fee with GST | ₹9,870 | ₹9,870 |
| Cab, Dehradun to Ranachatti and back | About ₹2,167 | About ₹2,600 |
| Gear washing charge | ₹200 | ₹200 |
| You spend | About ₹12,237 | About ₹12,670 |
| Gear deposit, paid and refunded | ₹3,000 | ₹3,000 |
Travel to Dehradun, meals on the two drives, travel insurance and add-ons are not in these figures, as they depend on your own choices.
Why is travel insurance a separate cost?
Travel insurance is mandatory and not included in the fee. The policy must cover high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation, and you bring proof of it with your original government photo ID and a medical certificate signed by a doctor (the form is in My Bookings).
Evacuation cover matters because medical help is far from the trail. The National Health Mission Uttarkashi staff list names CHC Naugaon, on the drive between Dehradun and Ranachatti, PHC Damta Naugaon and the District Hospital in Uttarkashi, and Dehradun is 6–7 hours by road from Ranachatti. No doctor joins the trek.
How much cash should you carry, and where can you withdraw it?
Barkot, 1–1.5 hours before Ranachatti, has the last ATM, and cards are not accepted on the trail. Withdraw what you need in Dehradun, in small notes, including your cab share, money for the two drives and anything for tips. There is little or no network on the trail after Day 1, so do not count on paying by phone.
Bags you do not need on the trail stay free of charge in Trekkaro’s store in Ranachatti. Jewellery, laptops, wallets, cash and documents stay with you, as the luggage is kept at your own risk.
What about cancellation, timing and fitness?
Read the Terms & Conditions on the trek page for cancellation and refunds before you pay; this guide does not restate them. For the months, snow and weather on the trail, see the Aancha Top trek best time guide. For the effort on summit day and how to train, see the Aancha Top trek difficulty and fitness guide.
