🔆 Highlights of the day:
The stretch from Kalkatiyadhaar (2,730 m / 8,956 ft.) to Har Ki Dun Valley (3,566 m / 11,768 ft.) is often described as the most spectacular part of the Har Ki Dun trek. Spanning 5 km with an elevation gain of 2,812 ft, this section offers unmatched views, diverse landscapes, and fascinating glimpses into Himalayan geography.
The trail begins with a steady climb, soon leading to the scenic pastures of Dev Thach, a lush alpine meadow where two rivers meet. This confluence marks a significant point in the trek, as the valley splits into two directions — the left opening into the legendary Har Ki Dun Valley, while the right leads towards Ruinsara Tal and Bali Pass.
As you progress further, the path rewards you with breathtaking vistas of Har Ki Dun Peak and Hata Peak, standing tall against the horizon. The landscape transforms from grassy slopes into dense pine forests and charming glades, punctuated by small waterfalls cascading down the ridges. A short, steep climb brings you to level ground where snow patches begin to appear, especially during late autumn and spring.
The route continues through a forest stretch with a gradual incline before finally approaching the entrance of Har Ki Dun Valley. A rustic wooden bridge over a glacial stream marks the last crossing. Beyond this point, the valley opens dramatically, divided by a rivulet into two routes — one leading to Maninda Tal and Borasu Pass, and the other towards the Jaundar Glacier.
This approach to Har Ki Dun, often referred to as the “Valley of Gods”, combines myth, adventure, and Himalayan beauty in a way few treks can match. The sheer grandeur of the landscapes makes this section the crown jewel of the trek.
After soaking in the views and exploring the surroundings, trekkers retrace their steps back to Kalkatiyadhaar (2,730 m / 8,956 ft.). The descent is easier, and by evening, you return to the campsite for an overnight stay, ending the most rewarding section of the trek.

🔆 Highlights of the day:
The return journey from Kalkatiyadhaar to Puani Garaat is a beautiful descent through the heart of the Har Ki Dun valley. Spanning 8 km in about 5 hours, this section allows trekkers to enjoy fresh perspectives of the landscapes they had climbed earlier.
The trail begins with a gradual descent through alpine meadows, where patches of snow in the higher regions slowly give way to lush greenery. As you move lower, the forests become denser with pine, oak, and maple trees lining the path. The crisp mountain air, combined with the sound of rustling leaves and flowing streams, creates a serene trekking experience.
Along the way, trekkers may encounter Himalayan langurs swinging through trees, a variety of birds, and seasonal wildflowers that add color to the trail. Occasional clearings provide glimpses of towering peaks in the distance, contrasting beautifully with the forested valley below.
Crossing rustic wooden bridges over tributaries of the Supin River, the descent continues steadily until you arrive at Puani Garaat (2,524 m / 8,280 ft.). Nestled beside the river, this campsite is known for its peaceful surroundings, making it the perfect place to rest and rejuvenate after the long journey from Har Ki Dun.

Our high-performance tents and sleeping bags are engineered for extreme alpine conditions.
• Sleeping Bags: Designed to endure temperatures as low as -5°C to -20°C
• Tents: Provide additional insulation and wind protection for a warm, secure rest each night
We are always prepared for unpredictable mountain weather — and encourage trekkers to share any safety concerns with our team for quick support.
2. Health Monitoring: Daily Oxygen & Pulse Checks
Your well-being is our priority. For high-altitude treks, we conduct daily oxygen saturation and pulse monitoring (as needed) before and during the trek.
This proactive step helps us:
• Detect early signs of altitude sickness

3. Emergency Support & Medical Backup
Altitude affects everyone differently. Our guides are equipped with portable oxygen cylinders and essential first-aid medicines for immediate use in case of altitude-related symptoms.

In case of emergencies or injuries, stretchers are available at all campsites, ensuring a safe and swift evacuation to base camp for further care.
Cell networks can be unreliable in the mountains. To bridge the gap, our camps and guides stay connected via a dedicated radio communication system, ensuring quick response in cases of bad weather, missing items, or medical needs.
4. Technical Support on Snowy Slopes
For treks involving snow-covered or technically challenging terrain, our trained technical team is deployed to assist. They ensure:

Jolly Grant Airport is located approximately 25 kilometers from Dehradun city and serves as the nearest airport. Daily flights are operating between Delhi and Dehradun, making it a convenient option for travelers.
Traveling by train is a comfortable and convenient way to reach Dehradun from Delhi. Here are two recommended overnight options:
Nanda Devi Express (12205)
Departure: 23:50 hrs from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS)
Arrival: 05:40 hrs at Dehradun (DDN)
Ideal for those who prefer a late-night departure and early morning arrival.
Dehradun Express (12687)
Departure: 21:10 hrs from Hazrat Nizamuddin (NZM)
Arrival: 05:00 hrs at Dehradun (DDN)
Suitable for early sleepers who prefer to settle in sooner.
Tip: Book your tickets in advance, especially during peak trekking seasons, to avoid last-minute hassle.
There is regular bus service available from Delhi (ISBT Kashmere Gate) to Dehradun.
We strongly recommend choosing only government-operated buses from inside the ISBT Kashmere Gate for safety and reliability.
Tip: Avoid private buses that operate from outside the ISBT premises, as they are generally unreliable and not recommended.
Most buses will drop you at Dehradun ISBT. From there, you’ll need to reach Dehradun Railway Station using one of the following:

At Trekkaro, we redefine the trekking experience with our Free Trekking Gear (FTG) initiative — a game-changer in the adventure travel industry. We equip our trekkers with top-tier trekking gear at zero additional cost, including premium Decathlon products like:
• Shoes (worth Rs. 6,999)
• Insulated Jackets (-10° C) (worth Rs. 3,299)
• Trekking Poles (worth Rs. 1,299)
This ensures every adventurer, whether first-time or experienced, can enjoy the mountains without the financial burden of buying expensive gear. It's trekking made accessible, safe, and seamless.
1. Gear Built for the Mountains
• Make informed decisions for your safety
• Ensure every trekker remains fit and comfortable throughout the journey
3. Emergency Support & Medical Backup
Altitude affects everyone differently. Our guides are equipped with portable oxygen cylinders and essential first-aid medicines for immediate use in case of altitude-related symptoms.
Tip for trekkers: Stay physically prepared — activities like running, cycling, and swimming greatly improve endurance at high altitudes.
• Proper route safety
• Emergency handling
• Support in difficult sections like icy slopes or narrow ridgelines
With Trekkaro, you’re always in safe and experienced hands — so you can focus on what truly matters: the adventure of a lifetime.
A cab will be arranged from Dehradun Railway Station at 06:30 AM to Sankri, the base camp of the trek, at an additional cost of approximately Rs. 6,500 per vehicle (5–6 seater). This amount is shared among trekkers and needs to be paid directly to the driver.

Purola is the last reliable ATM stop before reaching Sankri (Basecamp). Make sure to withdraw sufficient cash here, as you may not find functional ATMs beyond this point.

Sankri is the last location with a stable mobile signal, and even here, only Jio works consistently. Please complete all important calls and inform your family about limited connectivity during the trek. Once you leave Sankri, mobile signals are generally unavailable.
