Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Pipalkoti (1,883 m / 6,175 ft.); 215 Km drive from Rishikesh, 9 hours

Embark on a thrilling trek starting from Rishikesh - a beautiful city nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas. Beginning at the Rishikesh railway station, we will set off on our journey, traversing the scenic Badrinath Road. Witness breathtaking views of the majestic mountains as we make our way towards our destination. Get ready for a memorable adventure filled with exciting experiences and beautiful natural wonders.

The 9-hour drive to Pipalkoti offers stunning views that will keep you entertained throughout the journey. The river flowing alongside us becomes more exhilarating as we ascend. On the way, we will pass through Panchprayag, where five rivers converge. The drive may be tiring, but the majestic landscapes will make it worthwhile.

We arrange shared taxis for trekkers from Rishikesh Bus Stand to Pipalkoti and drop you back from Pipalkoti. This will cost approx. Rs. 8,000/- one way per 5-6 seat vehicles. You will have to share this value with the other trekkers.

Day 2: Drive from Pipalkoti to Dhak. Trek from Dhak (2,050 m / 6,750 ft) to Gulling (2,900 m / 9,600 ft); 6 Km, 5-6 hours

The trek starts at Dhak and involves a gradual ascent towards Tugasi village. There are some sharp turns on the dirt trail before it levels out and turns into gently sloping terrain. The ground can be rough at times but generally manageable. After hiking for 20-25 minutes, you will reach Kharchi village where you can replenish your water bottles and take a break. From there, continue on the rough path with the valley to your right. The ascent is steep and has switchbacks. Take the steady climb, leaving farmland to the left, and be greeted with a breathtaking view of Dronagiri mountain rising in terror from infinity. We'll pitch tents in open meadows surrounded by oak forest, with views of Dronagiri.

Day 3: Gulling (2,900 m / 9,600 ft) to Khullara (3,350 m / 11,000 ft); 5 Km, 4 hours

Set your alarm and prepare for an early start to embark on a 4-hour journey to Khullara. Despite the previous day's grueling climb, today's ascent will be gentler, with smooth slopes that make for a pleasant walk. Wake up refreshed and ready to take in the natural beauty of your surroundings. The forests await your exploration, so be sure to make the most of this opportunity to immerse yourself in nature.

The hike leads to an open green area that provides stunning views of snow-capped mountains. Further along, there's a small stream to cross and an expanding mixed forest with rhododendrons and oaks. The hike takes about 20 minutes to reach the picturesque spot and offers an invigorating experience for adventure enthusiasts. Take a break, soak in the natural beauty, and continue the hike for an enriching experience. During the wintertime, the forest is transformed into a stunning snowy wonderland. Every corner of the woods is blanketed with thick snow, creating a play of light and shade. As you continue your trek, you'll come across Gulling, the second campsite located in a coniferous forest. The snowy scenery adds a touch of magic to the experience, making it an unforgettable journey.

Day 4: Khullara (3,350 m / 11,000 ft) to Kuari pass (3,900 m / 12,750 ft) and back; 13 Km, 8-9 Hours

There will be no water source available on the route, so make sure to bring enough water to last the day. The first phase of the trek will take you up to the Khullara top, covering a distance of 3.5 km. This includes crossing a broken bridge and a stream that freezes over in the winter, followed by a ridge climb to the high pass. The high pass trek is quite challenging and becomes even more demanding due to the presence of snow. Trekkers are advised to take breaks every 15 minutes to catch their breath and rest their muscles. Overall, this phase requires moderate to severe physical exertion. The trek culminates in a stunning display of Garhwal's towering peaks including Kedarnath, Chaukhambha, Kamet, Nanda Devi, and more. The breathtaking panorama includes a total of 14 mountains, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

Trekkaro team will specifically ensure your safety with...

1. Daily oxygen saturation & pulse reading (if required in trek) We do treks that have a different environment than our daily life. We live in an environment where we less care about a healthy lifestyle. When it comes to doing treks or surviving in a not-so-pure environment for more than a day our body should accept the changes. Oxygen saturation is the fraction of [oxygen]-saturated hemoglobin relative to total hemoglobin in the blood. So we ensure the specific balance of oxygen in your blood. Our team ensures the health condition by oxygen saturation and pulse reading before trekking so everyone should be aware of their health.

2. Oxygen cylinders and medical kit When it comes to high-altitude trek the body doesn't get enough oxygen. It’s not always that you cannot survive in high-altitude treks but for a safer side if your body is not adjusted to the environment we are always ready with the oxygen cylinders. Our team member carries the portable oxygen cylinder and all the basic medicines on the trek.
To prevent high altitude conditions - do more exercise, cycle, and swim. The more you practice it’ll easier for you.

3. Stretchers on every campsite Although we are physically and mentally ready for the environment there are chances of accidents or uncertain things. In those situations, we have stretchers at every campsite so, in an emergency, the porter will safely drop you at base camp where we can do further treatment.

4. High-Quality Trek Gear and Equipment Trekkaro is the only trekking company in the world that provides Free Trekking Gear (FTG) at no charge/rent only for use during the treks. Expensive FTG includes Decathlon Quechua Trek 100 Shoes, Quechua SH 100/300 Jackets, Hiking Pole/Stick, Gaiters, and Crampons. Now, before registering for the trek, there is no need to think about the expensive trekking gear, and you also, do not need to buy or rent expensive trekking gear to go on a trek.

Trekkaro team will ensure you with quality tents and sleeping bags where you can survive in extreme cold. We provide sleeping bags that can hold cold up to -5 to -20 degrees Celsius. It’s always warmer in tents so we ensure you with quality shelter.
So even though we are ready for the storm you should tell us if anything bothers you regarding safety.

5. Radio (for communication between camps and guides) Our camps are a bit far from each other. But they connect through radio though the network is the issue in the hills. Although you miss anything or the weather is not good or we need medical help from the base we can communicate through radios.

6. Technical team on all snowy slopes All the treks come up with an adventure. But safety is important in all trails and treks. Wherever we find risky slopes or areas we ensure the turn with the technical team. As we already mentioned earlier we have a well-trained team knowing handling hustles in emergencies and even knows how to take care of the trekkers.

When you take an adventurous trek with us, then be assured that whatever we do is more than your expectations. Our wish to excel goes beyond the point where your boots hit the trail – it begins the moment that you get in contact with us, and it never ends. There is nothing more satisfying than hearing from our trekkers that they’ve just had “another trip of a lifetime with Trekkaro”.

Your Expectations

• Safety Of course, this is a non-negotiable. Safety is embedded in our business and it’s something that we take very seriously in all our treks. It's the primary reason we're very popular in just a year.

• Personalized Service, Care, and Attention to Detail For some organizations, this is, surprisingly, negotiable. But it isn’t for us. After safety, if we can do one thing right, every time, it’s to ensure that we sweat the small things.

• The Best Guides If you are already trekking with us, then you’d be forgiven for thinking our guides are superhuman. It doesn’t mean a feat to entertain, cook, guide, and facilitate, but our guides, handle it with grace, and all the while the attention is on you.

• The Best Itineraries It takes a lot of refinement to make a perfect trek, from dawn to dusk there are a lot of moving parts and the potential for things to go awry. For the last year, we’ve balanced on the tightrope of offering the right amount of activity, flexibility, and trek time. Whilst utilizing the best lodgings in the most unique places.

• Value We’re not in the business of making money and providing you with nothing. Our treks aren’t expensive, they represent excellent value for money, and for those seeking to maximize their time, there is no better way.

Our Expectations

It may come as a surprise, but the reality is that it is a two-way street (or trail), and you are ultimately responsible for the nature of the experience that you have with us. And not only that, but you also influence the experience of others in your small group.

• Attitude This is your vacation, and the attitude that you bring will set the tone for your experience. We get that at times it’s difficult (we plan to challenge you) and we get that at times it’s a bit uncomfortable (this is not a cruise trip). All we ask you to keep an open mind, a big smile on your face, and readiness for the unexpected.

• Physical preparedness Our treks are designed for everyday people. You don’t have to be an athlete, but to be fair to yourself and your group members, you do need to be ready. Worried about it? Do not stress it, our team is 100% dedicated to helping you pick the right trek, bring the right gear, and be physically and mentally prepared.

• Know who’s in charge As we’ve mentioned, you rightly expect when you join our trek to be in good, safe hands. For us to ensure the entire group’s safety, we suppose you, as our guest, to listen to your lead guide. They are the expert when it comes to decisions made on the trek.

Expectations

Safety

There is no ATM at the base camp of Pipalkoti. Carry enough cash when you leave Rishikesh or from your base city.

It's important to note that network coverage is limited. You won't have a reliable signal until you reach Pipalkoti, and even then, it may be spotty. During the trek itself, you may only have intermittent coverage on the first and last day. However, if the weather is good, you should be able to get Jio and BSNL network coverage at the base camp.
