According to legends, Lord Ganesha chose Dodital as his abode. There is a temple devoted to the Lord Ganesha here. Another name for Dodital Lake is 'Dhundital' meaning “Ganesh ka tal” or Lake of Ganesha. Dodital is a freshwater lake in Uttarkashi District, Uttarakhand, India, situated at a height of 3,078 meters (10,100 ft.) and the Darwa Pass Top is at 4,150 meters (13,615 ft.). Assi Ganga rises from Dodital and joins Bhagirathi. The confluence is at Gangori.
The Trek to Dodital is one of the picturesque in the Himalayan region of Garhwal. The captivating natural atmosphere surrounding the serene Lake is ideal for camping overnight. There is an opportunity to explore the Valley of Assi Ganga. The Dodital Trek, which is also one of the winter treks in the region of the Indian Himalayas, which is untouched beauty by trekkers starts from Sangamchatti and heads to Aghora village situated at a height of 2,256 meters. The trail goes through the river Assi Ganga and is followed by gentle ascends and descends and goes through a detached town, Bebra. From Aghora, the trail passes through the beautiful forest of Rhododendron and leads to Manjhi, which is tucked at a mighty height. It offers such an environment that forms a sanctuary for trekkers to camp overnight. The trek from Manjhi to Dodital Lake is approximately 6 Km which takes about 2-3 hours to reach there and is located at a height of 3,078 meters. The sprawling natural beauty, reviving atmosphere and peaceful water of the freshwater lake make outdoors here a flat-out ecstasy. Further, a trail of 5 kilometers to Darwa Pass Top that passes through narrow gorges, birch forest, rocky colonies, and involves a series of rivulets takes you to the stunning Bandarpunch peak and Swargarohini range.

Best Time to Visit: Dodital Trek is best for all the year to visit. The best seasons include December to March, Expect hiking in the snow in the mid of December. During winters, Dodital is covered in a thick blanket of snow ideal for skiers. The best time in summer to experience Dodital includes April to June.



Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Reach at Kuflon (4,775 ft.), 160 Km drive from Dehradun

The drive from Dehradun to Kuflon passes through Mussoorie and Uttarkashi which takes about 6-7 hours to reach there with stunning views of mountain terrain. After reaching to Kuflon which will be our base camp for Dodital Trek, stay will be in Trekkaro luxury campsite on sharing basis. Kuflon is a very peaceful village with having very limited number of population. Transport will be arranged at an additional cost from Dehradun Railway Station at 06:30 AM. Cost of the Cab is Rs. 5,500/- per vehicle.

Day 2: Kuflon to Sangamchatti by road; Sangamchatti (5,200 ft.) to Bebra (7,250 ft.)

Early morning after having breakfast, drive from Kuflon to Sangamchatti in a Taxi which takes approximately 30 mins. In Sangamchatti, you can roam around the village which was earlier very well constructed but in 2012, there was a massive flood which washed the most of the major areas of village. It is the starting point of the trek to Bebra through the Assi Ganga Stream, small villages and paddy field; this trail is around 4 hours long, ascending gradually. Overnight stay at Bebra will be organized in tents surrounded by oak trees.

Day 3: Bebra (7,250 ft.) to Dodital (10,100 ft.)

Today’s trek is quite long but easy which includes 16 km distance and takes about 5-6 hours to reach Dodital Lake through the rhododendron, pine and oak trees. We would carry packed lunch box during the trek and would stop for having it at Manjhi which is a beautiful small village. From here, it would take 2 hours to reach Dodital Lake which is famous for the Lord Ganesha abode, beauty and Himalayan Trout fish. There is a temple devoted to the Lord Ganesha here. Another name for Dodital Lake is 'Dhundital' meaning “Ganesh ka tal” or Lake of Ganesha. After a great day, spend the night in camp near the Dodital Lake.

Day 4: Dodital (10,100 ft.) to Darwa Pass Top (13,615 ft.) and back

Today is the most visually mesmerizing day of the entire trek. Get up comfortably by 07:00 AM, have breakfast and get ready to climb to the top of Darwa Pass Top. The trek to the top of Darwa Pass requires around 2½ hours of steep climb. It begins adjacent to the stream which nourishes Dodital Lake. Following couple of hours, the course bifurcates into two, the left one take you to Darwa Pass top and the other one leads to basecamp of Bandarpunch Peak. As you reach the Darwa Pass top, you will see a 360° of the snowy peaks around of Bandarpunch and Swargarohini ranges. In winter, the trails can consist of knee deep snow. Spend some time here and descend to the camp at Dodital Lake.

Day 5: Dodital (10,100 ft.) to Bebra (7,250 ft.)

Today you would be leaving this abode chosen by Lord Ganesha. After breakfast, start walking to Bebra from Dodital Lake followed by some easy descending trail. It takes 5-6 hours to trek down to Bebra through oak, pine and rhododendron forests once again. Tomorrow, we will be back in civilization. Spend your precious time with the new found friends, sharing stories and making memories with them. This is the last campsite of the Dodital Trek. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 6: Bebra (7,250 ft.) to Sangamchatti (5,200 ft.); drive back to Dehradun from Kuflon

Get up comfortably by 07:00 AM. The descending path from Bebra to Sangamchatti will be quite gentle which takes about 2 hours. Drive to Kuflon from Sangamchatti and then depart from Kuflon to Dehradun Railway Station preferably by 11:30 AM since the journey takes 6-7 hours. Expected to reach Dehradun by 07:00 PM. Transport will be arranged at an additional cost from Kuflon at 11:30 AM. Cost of the cab – Rs. 5,500 per vehicle.

Jolly Grant airport is located 25 kilometers from the city, serving Dehradun. Daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun.

Take the train from Delhi to Dehradun overnight

Regular bus service is available from Delhi (ISBT Kashmere Gate) to Dehradun. We suggest that you take only government buses from the ISBT Kashmere Gate. Private buses run from outside ISBT Kashmere Gate and they are not trustable.

Usually, the buses left you in the Dehradun ISBT. From there you have to come to Dehradun railway station via Ola/Uber Cab/Auto Rickshaw/Shared Three Wheeler.
There is no direct bus to Kuflon run by the Uttrakhand Government, so you have to share a cab with Trekkaro co-trekkers.

1- Transport to and from the base camp: We arrange shared taxis for trekkers from Dehradun to Kuflon and drop you back from Kuflon. This will cost approx. Rs. 5,500/- one way per 5-6 seat vehicles. You will have to share this value with the other trekkers.

2- Food during transit to and from the base camp.

3- Backpack offloading charges: Rs. 1050/- for the full trek + 5% GST. The backpack cannot weigh more than 9 kg. Suitcases/trolleys/duffel bags will not be allowed. Please note that charges will vary for the last-minute offloading in case you decide to offload your bag after reaching Kuflon.

If we have to cancel/suspend your trek before the date of departure or at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, earthquake, landslides, strike, curfew, etc.), then you will get the TrekCash Voucher of the total fee you have paid to us and you can redeem it with 2 years on any trek but where this is of a higher price, you will be expected to pay the difference. 1. Daily oxygen saturation & pulse reading (if required in trek) We do treks which have a different environment than our daily life. We live in an environment where we less care about a healthy lifestyle. When it’s come to doing treks or surviving in a not-so-pure environment for more than a day our body should accept the changes. Oxygen saturation is the fraction of [oxygen]-saturated hemoglobin relative to total hemoglobin in the blood. So we ensure the specific balance of oxygen in your blood. Our team ensures the health condition by oxygen saturation and pulse reading before trekking so everyone should aware of their health.

2. Oxygen cylinders and medical kit When it comes to high-altitude trek the body doesn't get enough oxygen. It’s not always that you cannot survive in high-altitude treks but for a safer side if your body is not adjusted to the environment we are always ready with the oxygen cylinders. Our team member carries the portable oxygen cylinder and all the basic medicines on the trek.
To prevent high altitude conditions - do more exercise, cycle, and swim. The more you practice it’ll easier for you.

3. Stretchers on every campsite Although we are physically and mentally ready for the environment there are chances of accidents or uncertain things. In those situations, we have stretchers at every campsite so, in an emergency, the porter will safely drop you at base camp where we can do further treatment.

5. Radio (for communication between camps and guides) Our camps are a bit far from each other. But they connect through radio though the network is the issue in hills. Although you miss anything or the weather is not good or we need medical help from the base we can communicate through radios.

Wherever we find risky slopes or areas we ensure the turn with the technical team. 1- Transport to and from the base camp: We arrange shared taxis for trekkers from Dehradun to Kuflon and drop you back from Kuflon. This will cost approx. Rs. 5,500/- one way per 5-6 seat vehicles. You will have to share this value with the other trekkers.

2- Food during transit to and from the base camp.

3- Backpack offloading charges: Rs. 1050/- for the full trek + 5% GST. The backpack cannot weigh more than 9 kg. Suitcases/trolleys/duffel bags will not be allowed. Please note that charges will vary for the last-minute offloading in case you decide to offload your bag after reaching Kuflon.

4- Anything apart from inclusions.


Cancellation Policy

Cancellation requests are not taken over the phone.

In case you wish to cancel your trek please e-mail us at info@trekkaro.com

1- Cancellations up to 21 days prior to departure date - 70% refund

2- Between 21 days to 14 days prior to departure - 50% refund

3- Between 14 days to 10 days prior to departure- 30% refund

4- Less than 10 days of departure – No refund or you can transfer your trek (same batch date & same trek) to your dear one OR apply for TREKCASH Voucher 10 days before your trek date which comes with 2-year validity.


Note:-

a) Change of trek batch date is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.

b) In case of transferring a trek to your dear one, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements laid down by Trekkaro.

c) Trekkaro holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.

Refund Policy The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 working days.
If we have to cancel/suspend your trek before the date of departure or at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, earthquake, landslides, strike, curfew, etc.), then you will get the TrekCash Voucher of the total fee you have paid to us and you can redeem it with 2 years on any trek but where this is of a higher price, you will be expected to pay the difference. The TrekCash voucher will be generated within 10 working days and sent to your email address by us.

Note: In the instance of exchanging a TrekCash Voucher for your dear one, he/she ought to fulfill all the obligatory necessities set around Trekkaro.

1. Daily oxygen saturation & pulse reading (if required in trek) We do treks which have a different environment than our daily life. We live in an environment where we less care about a healthy lifestyle. When it’s come to doing treks or surviving in a not-so-pure environment for more than a day our body should accept the changes. Oxygen saturation is the fraction of [oxygen]-saturated hemoglobin relative to total hemoglobin in the blood. So we ensure the specific balance of oxygen in your blood. Our team ensures the health condition by oxygen saturation and pulse reading before trekking so everyone should aware of their health.

2. Oxygen cylinders and medical kit When it comes to high-altitude trek the body doesn't get enough oxygen. It’s not always that you cannot survive in high-altitude treks but for a safer side if your body is not adjusted to the environment we are always ready with the oxygen cylinders. Our team member carries the portable oxygen cylinder and all the basic medicines on the trek.
To prevent high altitude conditions - do more exercise, cycle, and swim. The more you practice it’ll easier for you.

3. Stretchers on every campsite Although we are physically and mentally ready for the environment there are chances of accidents or uncertain things. In those situations, we have stretchers at every campsite so, in an emergency, the porter will safely drop you at base camp where we can do further treatment.

4. High-Quality Trek Gear and Equipment Trekkaro is the only trekking company in the world which is providing Free Trekking Gear (FTG) at no charge/rent only for use during the treks. Expensive FTG includes Decathlon Quechua Trek 100 Shoes, Quechua SH 100/300 Jackets, Hiking Pole/Stick, Gaiters, and Crampons. Now, before registering for the trek, there is no need to think about the expensive trekking gear, and also, do not need to buy or rent expensive trekking gear to go on a trek.

Trekkaro team will ensure you with quality tents and sleeping bags where you can survive in extreme cold. We provide sleeping bags that can hold cold up to -5 to -20 degrees Celsius. It’s always warmer in tents so we ensure you with quality shelter.
So even though we are ready for the storm you should tell us if anything bothers you regarding safety.

5. Radio (for communication between camps and guides) Our camps are a bit far from each other. But they connect through radio though the network is the issue in hills. Although you miss anything or the weather is not good or we need medical help from the base we can communicate through radios.

6. Technical team on all snowy slopes All the treks come up with an adventure. But safety is important in all trails and treks. Wherever we find risky slopes or areas we ensure the turn with the technical team. As we already mentioned earlier we have a well-trained team having knowledge of handling hustles in emergencies and even know how to take care of the trekkers.

Day 1 : Reach at Kuflon (4,775 ft.), 160 Km drive from Dehradun
The cab will be arranged at an additional cost from Dehradun to Kuflon and drop you back from Kuflon. This will cost approx. Rs. 5,500/- one way per 5-6 seat vehicle. You will have to share this value with the other trekkers.

The cab costs approx.. Rs. 5,500 per vehicle (5-6 seaters) and Rs. 9,000 per tempo traveller (12 seaters). You will reach Dehradun between 18:00 and 19:00 hrs.

Uttarkashi has the last ATM point before you reach Kuflon (Basecamp) if you need to withdraw money.
Uttarkashi is the last place before you reach Kuflon (Basecamp) where you’re likely to get a stable mobile signal. This is about an hour before Kuflon, the base camp. Finish all your important phone calls here and inform anxious family members about limited phone connectivity.
