Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Reach Sari (6,601 ft.) from Rishikesh; 185 km, 8-9 hrs

Reach Sari, the base camp of the Deoriatal-Chandrashila trek. During the drive, you will be surpassing Devprayag where the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi form the river Ganges. The river will keep you company throughout, reaching you at Sari in the evening where you will have an overnight stay at a Guest House/Camp/Homestay. Roam the village, and learn some words of the local language, this is appreciated and often results in getting more out of the experience. Ask for permission before taking pictures from the respect of local people. Enjoy the areas you go to, but if possible, try and leave them in a better state than you found them in. The cab will be arranged at an additional cost from Rishikesh (Jumping Heights, Tapovan) at 06:30 AM to Sari Village. This will cost approx. Rs. 6,500/- one way per 5-6 seat vehicle. You will have to share this value with the other trekkers.

Day 2: Sari (6,601 ft.) to Deoriatal (7,841 ft.); 3 km, 2-3 hrs

The first day is easy and the shortest day of the trek with mixed ascends and descends which involves a 3 km hike; this is about to take 2-3 hours to reach Deoriatal. Pass through the dense thickets thriving with abundant bird species and continue climbing upwards. As soon as the lake comes into your sight, you can see some beautiful reflection of the entire surroundings in the clear water of this lake. A splendid vista of Chaukhamba massifs is unveiled in the background of the lake. Deoriatal Lake is also referred to as ‘two worlds at one place’, the first one being the real world and the other one being the reflection of the beautiful surroundings on the lake. Settle down right here in the comfort of your camps and get a very good night time’s sleep.

Day 3: Deoriatal (7,841 ft.) to Baniyakund (8,562 ft.) via Rohini Bugyal; 16 km, 7-8 hrs

This is the longest day of the trek has rolling terrain beginning with initial gradual ascends and then rapid descent which involves a 16 km trek; it takes about 7-8 hours to reach Baniyakund. Today’s trail will familiarize you more with the Mount Kedar and Chaukhamba massif Summit, rising closely as you process. It will be through dense forests of the oldest oak, maple, and rhododendron trees of the Kedarnath Sanctuary and the trail moves to Chopta through the meadow of Rohini Bugyal may be quite an experience amid the enchanting weather. At the same time, the surrounding beautiful mountains are snow-clad which will provide a pleasing background to this captivating adventure. You may find yourself lucky enough if you manage to spot a local stunning bird named Monal. After a long day, an overnight stay here would rejuvenate you for the next day’s trek.

Day 4: Drive to Chopta (8,790 ft.) from Baniyakund (8,562 ft.) to Chandrashila Peak (13,000 ft.) via Tungnath (12,073 ft.) and back to Baniyakund; 11 km, 8-9 hrs

The final day of trekking would mark the last leg of this eventful trek. Get up early morning preferably before sunrise, so that you can treat yourself to a sunrise view from Tungnath and the Chandrashila peak. Beginning from Baniyakund, you would be reaching a sacred place named Tungnath which has a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the Panch Kedar. It also features the highest Lord Shiva shrine in the world. Once you reach Tungnath Temple, take some time to admire the beauty of architecture and the hard work put in by those Artisans who built it a millennium ago when there were no modern tools and facilities available in the remotest part of the world. To get the 360° view of the snow-clad peaks of Chaukhamba, Bandarpoonch, and Kedar, then go ahead and climb to Chandrashila which forms the backdrop of Tungnath Temple on the eastern side. It takes an hour to reach the peak from here and the distance is around 1 Km. The climb is not so steep however the altitude makes it a little difficult to make quick advances to the summit. The entire trek is mesmerizingly beautiful and the views are simply breathtaking. This pretty easy trek would allow you to appreciate the natural beauty of the Himalayas while having a great time in the homestead of nature. This fateful day ends as you return to your camp at Baniyakund for a night stay.

  • Daily oxygen saturation & pulse reading (if required in trek): Our team takes a proactive approach to ensure the health and well-being of trekkers by monitoring their oxygen saturation and pulse rates before embarking on the trek. By doing so, you're able to identify any potential issues and make necessary adjustments to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. This not only allows trekkers to be aware of their physical condition but also helps to mitigate any risks associated with high-altitude environments, where oxygen levels can be lower than usual.
  • Oxygen cylinders and medical kit When it comes to high-altitude treks the body doesn't get enough oxygen: It’s not always that you cannot survive in high-altitude treks but for a safer side if your body is not adjusted to the environment, we are always ready with the oxygen cylinders. Our team member carries the portable oxygen cylinder and all the basic medicines on the trek. To prevent high altitude conditions - do more exercise, cycle, and swim. The more you practice it’ll easier for you.
  • Stretchers on every campsite: Although we are physically and mentally ready for the environment there are chances of accidents or uncertain things. In those situations, we have stretchers at every campsite so, in an emergency, the porter will safely drop you at base camp where we can do further treatment.
  • Radio (for communication between camps and guides): Our camps are located far apart, but they are connected through a radio network, which is essential for communication. While the network can be unstable in hilly areas, we can still rely on radios to stay in touch and seek help in emergencies, whether it's missing anything, bad weather, or medical assistance from the base.
  • Technical team on all snowy slopes: We emphasize the importance of safety on all treks, taking a cautious approach whenever we encounter risky terrain or areas that require technical expertise. With a well-trained team that knows how to handle emergencies and care for trekkers, we provide a reassuring environment for trekkers to embark on their trek with confidence.

When you take an adventurous trek with TREKKARO, then be assured that whatever we do is more than your expectations. Accepting that challenges and discomforts are part of the journey is also reassuring, as it shows that you are prepared to face them.

This emphasis on safety also builds trust and confidence with trekkers, allowing them to enjoy their experience to the fullest without worrying about potential risks.
  • Personalized Service, Care, and Attention to Detail For some organizations, this is, surprisingly, negotiable. But it isn’t for us. After safety, if we can do one thing right, every time, it’s to ensure that we sweat the small things.
  • The Best Guides If you are already trekking with us, then you’d be forgiven for thinking our guides are superhuman. It doesn’t mean a feat to entertain, cook, guide, and facilitate, but our guides, handle it with grace, and all the while the attention is on you.
  • The Best Itineraries It takes a lot of refinement to make a perfect trek, from dawn to dusk there are a lot of moving parts and the potential for things to go awry. For the last year, we’ve balanced on the tightrope of offering the right amount of activity, flexibility, and trek time. Whilst utilizing the best lodgings in the most unique places.
  • Value We’re not in the business of making money and providing you with nothing. Our treks aren’t expensive, they represent excellent value for money, and for those seeking to maximize their time, there is no better way.

Our Expectations

It may come as a surprise, but the reality is that it is a two-way street (or trail), and you are ultimately responsible for the nature of the experience that you have with us. And not only that, but you also influence the experience of others in your small group.

  • Attitude: It's clear that this vacation is designed as a transformational experience, and the attitude of the trekkers is key in creating the atmosphere. This means that adventurers can now focus on their trek without worrying about the financial burden of acquiring the necessary equipment, making it more accessible and convenient for people to experience the thrill of trekking. Trekkaro's tents and sleeping bags are designed to withstand extreme cold temperatures, with sleeping bags capable of handling -5 to -20 degrees Celsius. Additionally, tents provide extra warmth, ensuring trekkers have a cozy and safe shelter. Although we are prepared for the storm, you should let us know if anything concerns you regarding safety.
