According to Hindu mythology, Brahmatal Lake is the place where Lord Brahma meditated many years ago. It is nestling in the depths of Uttarakhand Himalayas. The trek to the Brahamatal Lake takes you on an epic journey through never-ending ridge lines, high altitude lakes, all dense bugyal, snow-covered peaks, and awe-inspiring views. There are many treks which can’t be done in January and February. Brahmatal Trek that way is a classic winter trek for that period. The trek is known for offering a huge amount of snow that makes a trek exciting. The views from the summit are even more captivating with majestic views of the mighty Himalayan ranges which provide many such excited as well as adventurous trekking trails, but this is probably the only trekking trail in the country where you could get a front-seat view of Himalayan peaks with Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti, bird’s eye view of the majestic Roopkund Lake and ample opportunities to capture the majestic snow-covered peak with their camera which rises above 7,000 meters. Brahmatal Trek is one of the best winter treks in the Himalayas.
Best Time to Visit: Brahmatal Trek is best for all the year to visit. Best seasons include December to March, Expect hiking on the snow in the mid of December. During winters, Brahmatal covered in the thick blanket of snow ideal for skiers. Best time to experience Brahmatal Trek in summer includes April to June.
Day 1: Reach at Lohajung (7,600 ft.), 210 Km drive from Kathgodam
Drive to Lohajung which takes about 9-10 hours from Kathgodam with stunning views of high altitude peaks like Trishul, Maiktoli, Nanda Devi, Ghori Parvat, Nanda Khat, Hathi Parvat, and Ghori Parvat. Take a small halt at Kausani for refreshments and make some memories with your camera as the views here are seriously unforgettable. Lohajung serves as the beginning point and the base camp for the Brahmatal trek. After reaching Lohajung, the stay will be in Guest House/Camp/Homestay on sharing basis(3 person per tent/room). There are many local shops where you can buy jackets, hand gloves, caps, shoes, etc. if need be. However, it is advised that you carry all the required things for trek beforehand and not rely on any shop. Transport will be arranged at an additional cost from Kathgodam Railway Station at 06:30 AM. Cost of the cab – Rs. 6,500 per vehicle.
Day 2: Lohajung (7,600 ft.) to Bekaltal (9,689 ft.)
The first day of the trek starts from Lohajung to Bekaltal which takes about 4-5 hours. Get up early in the morning, have breakfast and get ready to begin. Just beside Lohajung follow the ascending human-made stone trek. Along the way, you would encounter some startling views of the Nanda Ghunti Peak. The walk is mostly inside the jungle of the conifer, Cedar, Oak and Fir. Spot the Kali valley as you climb higher and it is marked by the union of Kali and Pindari rivers. Amidst thick oak forests, the lake gleams peacefully in summer, while in winter, it is frozen and the trail would be pretty matte. Stay at Bekaltal will be organized in tents.
Day 3: Bekaltal (9,689 ft.) to Brahmatal Lake (10,440 ft.)
Today is the day to trek to Brahmatal Lake where Lord Brahma meditated many years ago. It takes about 5-6 hours to reach Brahmatal from Bekaltal Campsite. The trail starts steeply into the Oak and Rhododendron forest which leads to the meadow of Telandi top. In the winter, you will see the meadow of Telandi turns into a vast snowfield and crossing the area, a gala of thrill. From here, it is a very gradual descent to Brahmatal. Enjoy some scintillating views of the mighty Himalayas from here and then proceed further to Brahmatal or Khabekhal Lake to be precise. After a great day, spend the night in camp.
Day 4: Brahmatal Lake (10,440 ft.) to Brahmatal Top(12,200 ft.) and back
Today is the most visually mesmerizing day of the entire Brahmatal trek. Get up comfortably by 07:00 AM, have breakfast and get ready to climb to the top of Brahmatal. The trek to the top of Brahmatal requires around 2½ hours of steep climb. Along the way, it would be all ascents. We would pass through some treacherous trails at Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar. The trail goes through a mountain ridge with valleys on both sides and provides majestic views of Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti. At the top, you would see a 180° view of exclusive snow covered Himalayan Ranges. Mountains such as Chaukhambha, Mandi, Mana, Nilgiri, Neelkanth, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Maiktoli become visible. This part of the trail is completely different from the entire trek. Return to Brahmatal campsite.
Day 5: Brahmatal Lake (10,440 ft.) to Lohajung (7,600 ft.)
Today you would be leaving this pristine lap of Mother Nature. After having breakfast, start walking to Lohajung from Brahmatal followed by some steep descending trail. It takes 6-7 hours to trek down to Lohajung through thick oak and rhododendron forests once again. You will reach Lohajung by the afternoon. This day could be used to rest as well as playing cricket, Volleyball or many other outdoor games at our Maujkaro Camps and at the end of the day, you can explore the small town and hear the mythological stories by the locals and immerse in their culture. Day 6: Drive from Lohajung to Kathgodam
Depart from Lohajung to Kathgodam Railway Station early in the morning, preferably before 06:30 AM since the journey takes 10-11 hours. Expected to reach Kathgodam by 07:00 PM. Transport will be arranged at an additional cost from Lohajung at 06:30 AM. Cost of the cab – Rs. 6,500 per vehicle.
How To Reach
Pant Nagar airport is located 31 kilometers from the Kathgodam Railway Station. There are few flights in a week from Delhi to Pant Nagar & vice-versa.

Take the train from Dehradun to Kathgodam

Regular bus service is available from Delhi (ISBT Anand Vihar) to Kathgodam. Nainital buses stop at Haldwani, which is a twin city of Kathgodam.
Usually, buses drop you at Haldwani Bus Station. From there you will have to come to Kathgodam railway station through auto rickshaw / shared three-wheelers, which is 4 kilometers away.
There is no direct bus to Lohajung run by the Uttrakhand Government, so you have to share a cab with Trekkaro co-trekkers.

Terms & Conditions
1- Accommodation: Full load camping arrangements on the mountain with a large mess tent and tables. Stay from Day 1 to Day 5 (Lohajung to Lohajung). In Lohajung, Stay will be in Guest House/Camp/Home Stay on sharing basis. You will camp on the trek (3 person per tent/room).
2- Meals: All meals during the trek starting with dinner on Day 1 till Breakfast on Day 6. (Simple Nutritious Vegetarian food)
Tea/Coffee/Soups/Snacks will be served throughout.
3- Camping charges: All trekking permits and forest camping charges are included (if any).
4- Leaders & Guides: Trek leaders assisted by certified and experienced local guides.
5- Free Trekking Gears: Shoes, Jacket(-10°C), and Pole.
6- Trekking Equipment: High-quality tents, sleeping bags, ice axes, roped, microspikes, gaiters, etc. as required.
7- Safety Equipment: First aid, medical kit, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, etc. will be available at all the campsites to deal with emergencies.
1- Transport to and from the base camp: We arrange shared taxi for trekkers from Kathgodam to Lohajung and drop you back from Lohajung. This will cost approx. Rs. 6,500/- one way per 5-6 seat vehicles. You will have to share this value with the other trekkers.
2- Food during transit to and from the base camp.
3- Backpack offloading charges: Rs. 1500/- for the full trek + 5% GST. The backpack cannot weigh more than 9 kg. Suitcases/trolleys/duffel bags will not be allowed. Please note that charges will vary for the last minute offloading in case you decide to offload your bag after reaching Lohajung.
4- Anything apart from inclusions.

a) Change of trek batch date is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.
b) In case of transferring a trek to your dear one, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements lay down by Trekkaro.
c) Trekkaro holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.
The applicable refund amount will be processed within the 10 working days.
If we have to cancel/suspend your trek before the date of departure or at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, earthquake, landslides, strike, curfew, etc.), then you will get the TrekCash Voucher of the total fee you have paid to us and you can redeem it with lifetime validity on any trek but where this is of a higher price, you will be expected to pay the difference. The TrekCash voucher will be generated within 3 working days and sent to your email address by us.
Note: In instance of exchanging a TrekCash Voucher to your dear one, he/she ought to fulfill all the obligatory necessities set around Trekkaro.

We do treks which have a different environment than our daily life. We live in an environment where we less care about a healthy lifestyle. When it’s come to do treks or survive in the not so pure environment for more than a day our body should accept the changes. What oxygen saturation is the fraction of [oxygen]-saturated hemoglobin relative to total hemoglobin in the blood. So we insure about the specific balance of oxygen in your blood.
Our team ensures the health condition by oxygen saturation and pulse reading before trekking so everyone should aware about the health.
2. Oxygen cylinders and medical kit
When it comes to high altitude trek the body doesn't get enough oxygen. It’s not always that you cannot survive in high altitude treks but for a safer side if your body not adjusted with the environment we always ready with the oxygen cylinders. Our team member carrying the portable oxygen cylinder on the trek.
To prevent high altitude conditions -do more exercise and cycling. The more you practice it’ll easier for you.
Our team also carries all the basic medicines including high altitude sickness specific medicines - Diamox, Dexamethasone and Nifedipine.
3. Stretchers on every campsite
Although we are physically and mentally ready for the environment there are chances of accidents or uncertain things. In those situations, we have stretchers every campsite so in an emergency, the porter will safely drop you at base camp where we can do further treatment.
4. High Quality Trek Gears and Equipments
Trekkaro is the only trekking company in the world which is providing Free Trekking Gears(FTG) at no charge/rent only for use during the treks. Expensive FTG includes Decathlon Quechua Trek 100 Shoes, Quechua SH 100/300 Jackets, Hiking Pole/Stick, Gaiters, Crampons and Headlamp. Now, before registering the trek, there is no need to think about the expensive trekking gears and also, do not need to buy or rent expensive trekking gears to go on a trek.

5. Radio (for communication in between camps and guides)
Our camps our bit far from each other. But they connect through radio though network is the issue in hills. Although you miss anything or the weather is not good or we need medical help from the base we can communicate through radios.

All the treks are come up with an adventure. But safety is important in all trails and treks. Wherever we find the risky slopes or area we ensure the turn with the technical team. As we already mentioned earlier we have well-trained team having knowledge of handling hustle in emergency and even know how to take care of the trekkers.
